Aster Testnet Launches Today For 1K Selected Whitelist Users

Key Highlights:

  • Aster Chain Testnet launched today, December 24, 2025.
  • The chain has selected 1,000 testers from 360,000 applicants.
  • Whitelisted users will be allowed to claim 1,000 USDT and 1,000 ASTER daily through daily faucet on BSC TestNet.

Aster Chain Testnet went live today December 24, 2025, and it was also announced that the blockchain has selected 1,000 users out of 360,000 applications to take part in testing the practice version of the Aster blockchain. This announcement was made through social media platform X.

The testnet runs on BSC TestNet and lets users try new features before the main network launches, which is planned for Q1 2026. Applications closed on December 22, and access was given only to users who were approved through the whitelist.

Testnet Objectives and Infrastructure

The main reason for this network to exist is for evaluating new features and products targeted at Aster users. So basically, as stated above, this blockchain is a practice or experimental blockchain on the BSC TestNet. Since the blockchain is on BSC TestNet, it becomes important to have wallet compatibility to BSC networks.

For the selected users to access the blockchain, they will have to connect their whitelisted addresses to begin testing.

Participant Selection Process

The DEX platform had received more than 360,000 applications and they platform selected only a 1,000 users and they are being called the ‘Vanguards.’ These users were chosen to be the first to try and test the Aster testnet.

The Vanguards are early users who help test features, spot problems, and give feedback during this testing phase. To keep the network stable, Aster limited the number of participants.

Whitelist Verification and Entry

As mentioned above, access is only available to those users whose wallet addresses are officially added to the whitelist. Selected participants must confirm they are eligible before connecting their wallets.

The platform is keeping the doors open for the users who were not selected. In the announcement, it has also been mentioned that users who were not selected can reach out to the Aster team on Discord and ask about possible future access. However, for now, all of the positions for testnet spots have been filled.

Daily Token Distribution via Faucet

Approved (whitelisted) users can get free test tokens from a special faucet page. Each user can claim tokens once every 24 hours. With every claim, they receive 1,000 TestNet USDT and 1,000 TestNet Aster. These tokens are only for testing and have no real value for money.

Core Testing Components

Testers are asked to check how certain key features work on the testnet. They mainly test perpetual and spot trading to see if trades run smoothly, hidden orders to confirm they execute correctly without being visible, and the Layer-1 (L1) Explorer to make sure that the users can easily track the transactions and activity on the network.

Testing these areas also helps Aster collect feedback, if there are any, on things like speed, reliability, and ease of use through Discord before the main launch.

As of now, the access will be provided to 1,000 users only, but the platform does plan on expanding the access as the network scales.

Context with 2026 Roadmap

Earlier in 2025, Aster focused on mergers, app launches, and exchange listings. However, the launch of this testnet fits into Aster’s bigger roadmap for 2026, which includes launching the main network, adding staking, and introducing governance features. Improving privacy and fairness, such as using zero-knowledge proofs and reducing MEV risks, is also a key priority.

SEC Backs Nasdaq, CBOE, NYSE Push to Simplify Crypto ETF Rules

The US SEC on Wednesday approved new listing rules for major exchanges, paving the way for a surge of crypto spot exchange-traded funds. On Wednesday, the regulator voted to let Nasdaq, Cboe BZX and NYSE Arca adopt generic listing standards for commodity-based trust shares. The decision clears the final hurdle for asset managers seeking to launch spot ETFs tied to cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin and Ether. In July, the SEC outlined how exchanges could bring new products to market under the framework. Asset managers and exchanges must now meet specific criteria, but will no longer need to undergo drawn-out case-by-case reviews. Solana And XRP Funds Seen to Be First In Line Under the new system, the time from filing to launch can shrink to as little as 75 days, compared with up to 240 days or more under the old rules. “This is the crypto ETP framework we’ve been waiting for,” Bloomberg research analyst James Seyffart said on X, predicting a wave of new products in the coming months. The first filings likely to benefit are those tracking Solana and XRP, both of which have sat in limbo for more than a year. SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the approval reflects a commitment to reduce barriers and foster innovation while maintaining investor protections. The move comes under the administration of President Donald Trump, which has signaled strong support for digital assets after years of hesitation during the Biden era. New Standards Replace Lengthy Reviews And Repeated Denials Until now, the commission reviewed each application separately, requiring one filing from the exchange and another from the asset manager. This dual process often dragged on for months and led to repeated denials. Even Bitcoin spot ETFs, finally approved in Jan. 2024, arrived only after years of resistance and a legal battle with Grayscale. According to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, the streamlined rules could apply to any cryptocurrency with at least six months of futures trading on the Coinbase Derivatives Exchange. That means more than a dozen tokens may now qualify for listing, potentially unleashing a new wave of altcoin ETFs. SEC Clears Grayscale Large Cap Fund Tracking CoinDesk 5 Index The SEC also approved the Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund, which tracks the CoinDesk 5 Index, including Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Solana and Cardano. Alongside this, it cleared the launch of options linked to the Cboe Bitcoin US ETF Index and its mini contract, broadening the set of crypto-linked derivatives on regulated US markets. Analysts say the shift shows how far US policy has moved. Where once regulators resisted digital assets, the latest changes show a growing willingness to bring them into the mainstream financial system under established safeguards
